Beyond PInk went online at the end of March 2001. After watching the Black Rose saga, it was instantly my favorite part of the SKU series, and I found Nemuro/Mikage to be wonderful and intriquing, if not confusing. But, after discussion with friends and an essay on the Black Rose saga I felt I had a grasp on his character. Browsing online I found very few sites having to do with Mikage at all and so I decided to put my own thoughts into the mix and began the site. Beyond PInk is actually a working title I had for a Chibiusa shrine I thought about making, but once I decided on creating a Mikage shrine, I thought it fit perfectly. He has the same pink hair as Utena, but he is so much more than just a foil for the title character, he has that whole background/past life as Professor Nemuro.
Version 1 was created using a mostly pink on pink color scheme with a black background on the main page and full-color images throughout, cut into little circles. Many of the pages also featured lyrics and quotes I felt went with the page's content. There were seperate sections for an overview of the arc, Mikage, Nemuro, other major characters, images, further Black Rose saga analysis, fun, and site items.
It seems like not very long ago when I first into into the online community of SKU sites, but it has indeed been a year. I am so happy with how the site turned out, and how it is continuing to evolve as I revise and add more to it. And, I just want to thank all the visitors who enjoyed BP, especially those who have entered into the confessional elevator, signed the guestbook, and sent me stuff. You help keep me dedicated to showing my love for Mikage across the web.
