DEBUT || Halloween 2004

WHY || I love the characters on BtVS and want to do some cosplay from it. The street clothes aren't really what I want to do, but I thought that the costume Buffy wears in the Halloween episode "Fear, Itself" is cute. I'm planning on making it for this Halloween and wearing it to work. For those non-Buffy people, I'll look like Little Red Riding Hood and maybe the Buffyverse fans will recognize the character behind it all.

HOW || For the dress, I basically followed a pattern, altering the sleeves a little. This made it a bit tight across the shoulders, but it was still comfortable to wear.

The cape was just straight off of a Little Red Riding Hood costume pattern. I used a polylin fabric, which was similiar to a gabardine, and had a lovely drape.

The apron was a "retro" pattern, but I just threw it together the night beforehand, so I didn't have time to alter the pattern to make it more accurate. :p I also never found an appropriate patterned fabric, so I just used plain white cotton. Also, I bought eyelet to edge the apron with, and dyed it red. However, due to a mishap, it faded out when I washed it beforehand. So, I decided to use nothing rather then faded salmony-red eyelet.

The whole thing was lengthed to just past my knees, to make it more appropriate to wear to work. The costume was topped off with an official Buffy cross necklace (bought online) and a picnic basket borrowed from my parents.
