WHY || When the bunny girl group was talking about having a gathering at ACen 05, I thought it would be fun to make a lolita design based on my lop rabbit Rin (who is the queen of our house). I didn't get it finished in time for ACen, but will still be finishing it in 2005.
HOW ||I found a lovely brown calico print fabric, and bought the remainder of the bolt, as it was a discontinued pattern. I started with a costume pattern for an 18th century gown for the bodice. I shortened the skirt to knee-length and put in puff sleeves from a Victorian blouse pattern. Cream eyelet was added as trim on the hem and sleeves. Brown grosgrain ribbon was sewn towards the bottom of the skirt. The carrot buttons were hand sewn onto the front of the bodice.
The bead crown was my first attempt at a lolita crown. I strung the beads on 24 gauge jewelry wire using my own pattern. It came out a little big, but still gives the look of carrots.
The hair is my own, augmented by curly clip-on extensions purchased at the mall.
Please do not copy this design! Be inspired by it, but don't just reproduce it exactly.
