WHY || This is my favorite of Himeno's Prétear battle costumes, plus I'm usually a sucker for the water element characters. I really liked the anime version, but then I saw the manga version I prefered most of those elements. I love the short-long skirt, the colors and the ribbons coming up the legs.

HOW || Most of this costume was a challenge. And, I had many problems, first of which being my serger breaking. So, I got out the pinking shears and made a short circle skirt and matching bloomers out of sea green duchesses satin. I added lace to the bottom to give it a more rippled look. I created the main dress out of 2 dress patterns, which I made a mock muslin dress from, and then cut away the bottom to give the high-low edge. The dress was then fully lined and sewn together with horsehair braid along the hem to help it stand out a bit. After having problems with the wig, Kelli went out and bought a new one right before the con. In the middle of packing for the con, I cut the wig (was originally shoulder length) and curled it using large curlers and a hand steamer. The "buttons" down the front were small crystals sewn on. The shoes were forgotten about, so I had no time to custom dye a pair, and bought a cheap pair to paint. Shoe paint could not be found, so I used acrylics, and had to touch it up when it cracked during the day. I was later able to correct this problem by mixing liquid latex with the acrylics. The tiaras were made by Kelli.
