WHY || I started watching Kare Kano at Christmas 2002 and thought it was really funny and really enjoyed the character of Yukino. After I got through the first couple of volumes it was getting time to decide on my costume for ACen so I thought of Yukino. I originally wanted to wear her "perfect" version in the school fuku on Saturday and then the "slob" home version on Sunday, but ran out of time to make the second outfit. ^^;;

HOW || Since this was more of a last-minute costume I decided not to make Tara sew me another skirt. I commissioned the skirt from the wonderful Limebarb, who made it really nice for a very reasonable cost and even gave me a free alteration since I didn't measure myself correctly. Then, I went through numerous websites and found the navy thigh-highs, the black flats, and a navy blazer on clearance. I bought the black bag at a crafts store and painted the "cats" badge on some white foam and sewed it on. The white shirt was mine and the blue tie my husband's. I even took my Kare Kano manga to the beauty shop and told them to cut my hair like Yukino on the cover. This was a more plain-schoolgirl costume so it didn't generate much attention, but a few people asked to snap pics. Mostly I enjoyed this costume because it was cute and very comfy to wear (except for the dratted thigh-highs which always crept down my legs...)
